Shin Buddhism has often been dismissed as a faith-based approach within Buddhism, leading to its frequent undervaluation. In this GSS, Nagapriya bridges Shin Buddhism with the broader Buddhist tradition. Join him as he explores how Shin Buddhism is deeply rooted in the Mahayana teachings and Buddhist practices.

Meet the Speaker: Nagapriya was born in the UK in 1969. While studying for a philosophy degree, he began practising with the Triratna Buddhist Community and was ordained as a Dharmachari in 1992. He later studied a master’s in the history of religions. In 2013 he moved to Mexico where he helped found el Centro Budista de Cuernavaca. He is also co-founder and Director of Editorial Dharmamegha, a small publishing venture dedicated to sharing Buddhist teachings in the Spanish speaking world. Nagapriya is author of The Promise of a Sacred World: Shinran’s Teaching of Other Power (Windhorse Publications, 2022), as well as several other books.
