Our Life of Okagesama

We often look for the hero or the star. We do this in sports and in musical theater. It is the soloist that we focus on without any regard to all the support and effort behind the scenes that made their performance possible. Life is like an iceberg where we only appreciate the 10% that shows above the water. Okagesama is a Japanese word that signifies all the causes and conditions that we don't see. Even our individual accomplishments pale when seen against the backdrop of all those who have made our lives possible. Rev. Marvin Harada, Bishop of Buddhist Churches of America, discusses all the shadows, behind the scenes, that make our everyday lives possible. Please follow the YouTube link Okagesama
